How To Price Cleaning Jobs Without Guessing
The simplest profitable cleaning quote is labour plus direct costs plus overhead plus margin. The mistake is usually leaving one of those out.
1. Estimate Labour First
Start with the job type, property size, bathrooms, appliances, and condition. End of tenancy cleans usually need more time because they include detail work and stricter expectations from landlords or agents.
2. Add Direct Costs
Include supplies, fuel, parking, congestion charges, laundry, equipment wear, and any helper costs. These are small on one job and painful across a month.
3. Add Overhead
Insurance, software, phones, bookkeeping, uniforms, admin time, and marketing need to be covered somewhere. A simple overhead percentage is better than ignoring it.
4. Protect Margin
Add profit after costs. If a quote feels expensive, adjust the scope or explain what is included instead of quietly removing your margin.
5. Take A Deposit
A 25-40% deposit can reduce no-shows and protect the calendar. Make the deposit, cancellation terms, and excluded extras clear before the booking is confirmed.
